User guide

Every capture type, ruler and guide control, editor key and export option on one page. It is part of the add-on and works offline.

Output

One long page keeps a tall column intact. A4 and Letter split it for printing.

Applies to One long page. Nothing is re-encoded at any setting: the same pixels are laid on a smaller page, which is what makes them denser. Native size matches the screenshot on screen, one image pixel per screen pixel. A4 and Letter already fit the image to the page, so they are unaffected.

Lossless keeps every pixel the capture holds, so the edges of small text stay clean however far you zoom - and on a flat page design it is often the smaller file as well. JPEG is smaller on pages full of photographs, and leaves faint ringing around small text when zoomed. Applies to every PDF, including batch runs.

Only applies to A4 and Letter pages - a single long page always prints edge to edge.

Needs a page margin above (A4 or Letter, margin not None) to have room to print in.

Same margin requirement as the header above.

Printed diagonally in light grey across the capture itself, on every page, in every PDF mode.

Choose the small shortcut shown beside Settings after your licence is active.

Leave a box empty to unbind that one. Chrome needs a modifier: Ctrl, Alt, Shift or a combination, plus one key.

The result page is where zoom, Crop, Save JPEG and Save as PDF live, along with Set baseline and Compare. Those last two need Pro.

Capture

The default reserves 24px along the top and left while rulers are shown, so they do not cover normal page content. This can reflow narrow pages; a site with fixed-to-viewport elements may still overlap the gutter. Overlay keeps the page layout unchanged but covers those edges.

Copy measurements lists any size or gap that is not a multiple of this number, with the nearest value that is.

Time allowed for repaint between tiles. Raise it if captures show torn or blank bands.

Screen recording

Auto-scroll drives the page (or a panel you pick) while recording instead of leaving it to the mouse wheel, advancing it by the same distance for every frame that is captured. It is on by default, and the on/off switch sits next to the recording button in the popup. The speed below is what that works out to while captures keep up; a page that is slow to capture moves more slowly than the dial says, and the recording still comes out evenly spaced. The two settings below shape it.

How far the scroll travels before the recording's time cap ends it.

How long the recording holds still before the scroll starts moving, measured from the moment the recording starts. A beat of stillness at the top reads better as a demo than motion from the very first frame. At 0 the scroll starts as soon as it can, which is still a few frames in: the recorder captures for a few hundred milliseconds while it sets the scroll driver up, and those frames are held ones whatever this is set to.

Button order

The order capture modes appear in the popup. Shown/Hidden takes a mode out of the popup and out of batch capture's mode list without changing anything about how it captures, so a keyboard shortcut still runs a hidden mode. At least one mode stays shown, and the last one's button greys out to say so.

Screen recording sits at the end of the list and its arrows stay greyed out. The popup draws it in its own block under the capture modes whatever this order says, so there is nowhere for it to move to. Hiding it also removes the auto-scroll switch and the panel picker beneath it. It differs from a hidden capture mode in one way worth knowing: the popup button is the only place a recording starts, so hiding it switches recording off rather than just tidying it away. Alt+Shift+S and Alt+Shift+X keep working on a recording already running.

Guide templates Pro

A template is a named set of guides that can be re-drawn on other pages. Templates are matched by address prefix: one saved on https://staging.example.com/docs covers that page and anything under /docs. Other sections of the site fall outside it.

Export & import presets and templates Pro

Bundles every capture preset and guide template above into one JSON file - no account, no server. Share it with a teammate, or keep a copy before switching machines. Importing a file adds its presets and templates here, overwriting any already saved under the same name.

Stored capture data

The extension keeps two kinds of capture content, both in this browser profile only, never uploaded anywhere. Each can be deleted here in one click.

Capture history

Recent captures are kept at full resolution so they can be reopened from the toolbar popup after the result tab is gone.

Diff baselines

Capture diffing saves a baseline image of a page so a later capture of it can be compared against that baseline and show what changed.

Screenshot Crawler Pro

Checking licence…

The success page straight after purchase hands your key to the extension by itself, so there is usually nothing to paste here. Your receipt email carries the same key. If you have lost both, email support@screenshotcrawler.com.

Rulers, guides, every capture mode, PNG and PDF stay free, and so does screen recording, capped at 10 seconds with a watermark. Free still captures carry a thin credit line over the bottom edge reading "www.screenshotcrawler.com - free version", which the Crop button on the result page trims off.
