Chrome 1.3.1 ยท Test build
Try it in Chrome.
Capture the page and the panels inside it, then finish the file locally. This download is for desktop Chrome 137 or newer.
Install in five steps.
- Check Chrome. Enter
chrome://settings/helpin the address bar and confirm version 137 or newer. A separate browser profile keeps test-build settings and local captures separate from your usual profile. - Download and extract. Save the ZIP above, then extract all its files into a folder you will keep. Open that folder and check that
manifest.jsonsits directly inside it. - Load the folder. Enter
chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the extracted folder containingmanifest.json. - Pin Screenshot Crawler. Open Chrome's Extensions menu, pin Screenshot Crawler, then click its toolbar icon.
- Try a capture. Open the two-panel test, keep the tab in front, and choose Page + all panels. Check that both panels reach their labelled last row. Use the result tools to crop, annotate or save the capture.
Updating an existing test build? Replace the files in the same unpacked folder, then click Reload on Screenshot Crawler's card at chrome://extensions. Version 1.3.1 corrects the toolbar popup reset errors reported in 1.3.0. Do not remove the extension to update it; keep its local settings and captures.
For a local HTML file, open Screenshot Crawler's Details at chrome://extensions and enable Allow access to file URLs. Chrome's settings pages, store pages and other extensions' pages restrict capture tools that need page access.
A few Chrome differences.
Printing needs your confirmation.
Vector PDF opens Chrome's print preview with scrolling panels expanded. Choose Save as PDF, review paper size, margins and background graphics, then save or cancel. Website print styles can change the page. This route does not silently save a file or create an editable result. For unattended batch saving, choose raster PDF or PNG.
Recording uses the current tab.
Chrome asks for tab-recording access when you first start. Record the whole tab or crop to one scrolling panel. Tab-stream recording is designed to continue when you switch to another tab; keep the source tab open. After navigation, auto-scroll may stop even if recording continues. Stop recording before using Vector PDF, because printing temporarily changes the page layout. Free records up to 10 seconds with a watermark; Pro records up to five minutes without one. Smoother recording requests 15 frames per second, or 5 with it off. Actual playback smoothness depends on your device. Use the popup to stop and save or discard.
Assign extra shortcuts in Chrome.
Enable shortcuts in Screenshot Crawler Settings, then open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to assign keys. Chrome permits four suggested shortcuts, used for Visible, Full page, One panel and Region. Stop recording and Discard recording are available for you to assign; they have no default key.
Optional access stays optional.
Ordinary captures start from your toolbar action. Batch capture and tools that persist across reloads can ask for access to websites. If you decline, those features cannot run with that access. Recording permission is requested separately.
Reload or remove the build.
To use a newer test ZIP, extract it into the same folder, click Reload on Screenshot Crawler's card at chrome://extensions, then reload the webpage and start a new capture. Keep the installation folder in place. Existing result tabs can belong to an older build.
To uninstall, choose Remove on that card. Files you exported to your computer remain there until you delete them yourself.
Capture processing stays here.
Captures, English text recognition and licence verification run locally. Recent results, history and comparison baselines may be kept in your browser on this device; Chrome retains the latest five result bundles. There is no capture upload or extension telemetry. The privacy policy explains local storage, removal and separate website checkout.
Free and Pro follow the same feature tiers. If you have a valid Pro key, enter it in Settings. Check the capture workflow on your pages before buying; the pricing page explains the optional one-time upgrade.
Tell us what happened.
If a capture fails, try the most specific capture type and run the two-panel test. Email support@screenshotcrawler.com with Chrome's version, extension version, capture type and steps to reproduce it. Include a public page address or a safe example; avoid sharing private captures or licence keys.
If Chrome cannot load the folder, check that it contains manifest.json directly. On the extension card, Errors shows browser error details. After replacing the build, reload both the extension and the webpage.
