Who we are
Screenshot Crawler is responsible for this website and this policy. Contact us at support@screenshotcrawler.com. Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for purchases, as described under “Buying Pro” below.
The extension
The Screenshot Crawler browser extension accesses page pixels, readable text, page addresses and titles when you use its capture tools, and tab video when you start recording. It processes this content locally and does not upload it. It contains no analytics, telemetry, remote error reporting or tracking.
Your screenshots and recordings are produced in your browser and written to your own computer. They are never uploaded. Pages you visit, addresses you capture, and anything visible in a capture stay on your machine.
Screen recording is assembled entirely on your device by code shipped inside the extension. The WebM file is written straight to your own computer. No frame leaves your browser, and no encoding or upload service is contacted.
Your settings, saved guides and licence key are stored using your browser’s own extension storage, on your device.
Local results, history and baselines
Recent results, capture history and saved comparison baselines can include images, recordings, readable page text, page addresses, titles and capture dates. They are stored in your browser on this device and are never sent to us. Chrome retains the latest five result bundles so recent result tabs can reopen after the capture runtime restarts; older bundles are replaced as new captures are made.
Use History to delete history entries and Settings to manage saved baselines. The Chrome recent-results cache is separate from history, so deleting a history entry does not promise to erase every local result copy. Removing the extension clears its browser-held data. Files you saved to Downloads or another folder, and anything copied to your clipboard, remain under your control and must be removed separately.
Your licence key is checked against a public key built into the extension. No server is contacted to activate or validate it, so this works with no internet connection.
Your browser may report anonymous usage counts to the add-on store you installed from, such as daily active users. The browser and the store collect these counts. We do not receive them individually and we do not control them.
Every connection that exists
The extension makes no network request of its own. Browser services and website checkout can connect around it without transmitting your captures through Screenshot Crawler. They are listed here so the claim above can be checked.
- Your browser’s extension services. Firefox checks AMO for add-on updates; once Screenshot Crawler is listed on the Chrome Web Store, a store-installed copy will use Chrome’s own store and update services. Browsers may also contact their own security services. None of them carries your captures to Screenshot Crawler. The unpacked Chrome test build does not receive automatic Chrome Web Store updates.
- The checkout, if you buy Pro. Opening the pricing page and paying loads Paddle’s checkout in your browser, described under “Buying Pro” below. That is a page you chose to visit. The extension is not involved, and a licence key is verified afterwards with no connection at all.
Text recognition is the case people ask about most, so it is worth stating plainly: it runs offline. The recognition engine and its English language data ship inside the extension, around 3.7 MB of it, which is why the download is the size it is. Nothing is fetched when you use it and no image is sent anywhere.
Buying Pro
Purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who act as the merchant of record. Paddle collects the information needed to take payment and meet tax obligations, which typically includes your email address, billing country and payment details. Payment details are handled by Paddle and never reach us.
Paddle’s handling of that information is covered by their privacy policy.
From Paddle we receive, and store, the minimum needed to issue and re-issue your licence: your email address, your name if you gave one, and the transaction reference. This is kept so a lost key can be recovered, and is held on Cloudflare infrastructure for up to seven years.
This website
The extension includes one small script that runs only on screenshotcrawler.com. Its single job is to pass a purchased licence key from the checkout success page to the extension. It reads no capture data and sends nothing anywhere.
One outside script loads on a page view: Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts visits and page loads in aggregate. It sets no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across other sites. Cloudflare describes it in its Web Analytics overview. The site has no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies.
Paddle’s checkout loads only when you click Buy. It sets its own cookies to process the payment, because Paddle is the merchant of record.
That checkout script is Paddle’s and it brings ProfitWell with it, which reports sales figures to us in aggregate. Both are covered by Paddle’s privacy policy. Neither one runs on a page view, and you can confirm that with your network tab open.
The site itself is served through Cloudflare, who process request logs including IP addresses as part of delivering and protecting it.
If you email support, we keep that correspondence in order to answer it.
Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by emailing support@screenshotcrawler.com. Deleting your purchase record means a lost key can no longer be recovered through this site; the key itself keeps working, because verification is offline.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
